People and places we like around town, and we think you will, too. They haven't necessarily given us a dime, but they have the same spirit of excellence we strive for in the Singers!

Around Town's favorite out-of-town place for great coffees and teas, plus lots of wonderful home-made baked goodies to eat. Lots of the Singers go here. You should, too. Margie the owner uses her 1000 watt smile to light the place.

Nice reading area for kids to enjoy a book while you have big-people time.

The Dan Kane Singers (DKS) - This is the granddaddy of popular choruses in Western New England. So much of the inspiration to create Around Town came from this 160-voice singing group. Under the leadership of powerhouse Dan Kane, the DKS has brought enjoyment to the public and introduced bright new talents for over 30 years.

The Dan Kane Singers has helped launch the careers of many up-and-coming vocalists from right here in New England. Ashley Gearing at age 12 beat the longstanding record held by Brenda Lee, becoming the youngest artist to reach Billboard's Hot Country Singles Chart. She still finds time to come back each year and sing with the DKS.

Someone who I had the joy of recording early on is local DKS favorite Traci Mnich who made her first big splash at the 6th grade school variety show and is now making waves in the music industry. Some of my other favorites that have come out of this group are Noah Lis, Meghann Fahy, Sam Plotkin, and Kaylyn Utley. Will the Around Town Singers produce such talent in the future? Only time will tell, but we'll be on the lookout!

Several of the Around Town Singers have been on stage or experienced the wonderful programs at the Red Door Theatre. It's a great place for young people to learn stage performance skills. They have summer programs and productions throughout the year.

If you need lighting or sound help, contact Paul Leone at The Illumination Authority.  Paul helps us will technical services at many of our small shows and concerts.
